Dear all,

I've agreed with Biscuits that we will run a preliminary poll for next year's 1st team captain on this forum.

Please vote only once for the player you feel should lead and captain the 1st team next season;

Depending on the level of response from this poll Biscuits and I will decide whether we need to undertake any further election process for this very important position.

Please ensure that when you vote you also post your name and any other comments you would like to make about the organization and arrangements for the Cougar's 1st team next season.

You may suggest other players not included on this list - unfortunately the poll facility limits the number of names I have been able to include.

All feedback, including constructive criticism, will enable us to improve how the elected committee manage and organize all aspects of the club for you as players next season.

I'm not sure how the ladies intend to elect their captain, they may also choose to use this facility on the Cougars forum?

PLEASE ENCOURAGE OTHER COUGAR PLAYERS TO VOTE TOO!

Mark G
(Men's 1st Team Coordinator)

I'm gonna vote for Mark. Experience is key me thinks. I think you need to ask yourselves what the role of a captain is:

1. On field decisions -
Time outs etc. - you need to have someone who knows when the right time to call a time out is - this should b done by the coach but we don't always have one on the side line. Timing is key toposession and the flow of the game - not to mention legality which we get done for al the time - why I have no clue.

2. Off field decisions -
Some onee who can critically evaluate players so as to help the team - be it personal improvement, position, or line-up. Often these are decisions made on the day or in our case - always the night B4.

3. Personal problems -
The captain should always be the first point of call for te players if they need to talk to someone. They should be able to offer advise in the best interests of the individual rather than the team.

Let's not forget running training and showing up for every game and practice.

Been there done that - I wouldn't want the job again - I get my say without it anyway.

Oh and quick heads up - I don't think we'll have Stu next year, he was offered a place on the Salisbury Lacrosse Team as a face off specialist. Would you want to play for us or Salisbury???

Delighted for Stu but sad we wont have his quality and passion for the game in our team next season.

Mark

my votes on Mark,

He is already respected by the other players and not just because of his age, if anyone can bring us our long awaited premiership glory its him!

and he is 99.9% cool under pressure (apart from that greatly diserverd trip preformed with the wrath of a man wronged!)

next year will be good
